NAC Supports 2021 MISA Awards

In an effort to strengthen advocacy for HIV and AIDS information dissemination, National AIDS Commission (NAC) supported the 2021 Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA) Malawi Chapter Awards Ceremony where some journalists were decorated for performing exceptionally in different categories. This year’s Awards ceremony was held at Sunbird Mount Soche Hotel in Blantyre on Monday, 3rd May 2021.

Every year, NAC supports two Red Ribbon Awards covering both print and electronic categories for outstanding reportage on the HIV and AIDS subject. The two winning journalists received a state-of-the-art laptop computer and a glass shield each.

The 2021 Red Ribbon winners are Mercy Malikwa of Nation Publications Limited (print category) with a story titled “Rose gets Justice, still haunted” and Catherine Maulidi of MIJ Radio (electronic category) with the story titled “The HIV report exploring those on ARVs receiving the drugs under a Tree in Karonga District under Mpata Health Centre due to lack of Shelter”. NAC Director of Finance and Administration, Mr Pongolani Msakambewa, presented the two Awards to the winning journalists on behalf of the Acting Chief Executive Officer.
